Prototyping with 3D Printing Saves Time and Money

When ReliaBuild 3D owner, Heath Harper, needed a more efficient way to weld wires onto electronic grounding couplers, he turned to his 3D printer. Traditional prototyping is costly and can take weeks. But by using 3D printing he went from design to finished, proven, functional product in less than 24 hours.

After designing the new fixture, the initial prototype took about 2 hours to print on a ReliaBuild 3D printer. Then Heath tested the functionality, adjusted the design for improved setup and fit, and printed another prototype. He repeated this cycle 5 times, and in less than 24 hours he had his final product.

Heath’s new welding fixture saves three minutes on each electronic grounding coupler, which adds up to big savings when welding 100 couplers a day at a shop rate of $100 an hour. At this rate, a ReliaBuild 3D printer pays for itself in less than a week in time saved!
